We are thrilled to be joining such a fantastic company and to have the opportunity to participate in the next stage of Twitter’s growth.

We love Twitter, and we think their wonderful culture and technology are a perfect match for our team.  It’s the ideal place for us to keep building things that people love.

For the community:

Don’t panic. We are planning to keep Fluther.com up and running, as it is, as a separate project from Twitter. We won’t be developing it as we’re now focused on Twitter, but Lisa will continue on as community manager and maintainer.

Thank you to everyone who helped Fluther grow from an idea into a thriving community with over a million visitors a month. We’ll have more details about the state of Fluther in the coming weeks.

We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us along the way, and we can’t wait to dive into the exciting challenges ahead.

We’re launching the pilot program of the Fluther Salon — it’s part meetup, part group-interview. Think of it as a microTED filled with questions and interesting people.

What a turnout! The last time we did a town hall, we had maybe 30 members — we peaked at 70 users yesterday.

Despite the cacophony, some beneficial discussion ensued. You can download the transcript here and read our ideas about the new areas of the site.

I’ll also be appearing on blondesjon’s radio show this Friday at 9:30 Central Time to field questions. You can submit questions ahead of time on his forum if you don’t want to wait until the show airs.

We’re going to hold a State of the Fluther meeting for jellies to chat about how they’re feeling about Fluther on Monday, April 12, at 5PM Pacific (8PM Eastern) in a special chat room. Please join us!

The main topic for tonight will be responses: what do you feel is helpful, what is unhelpful? What responses make you want to use the site?

Three small changes during a quick Friday cleanup:

• New guidelines regarding homework questions.
  Following feedback from the community, we have put forth our “official stance” on homework questions. Read it here.
  The gist: homework questions are allowed, but any direct answers will be removed.
• Lurve celebrations are moving into the ‘meta’ section.
  There’s now a link to the meta section in the lurve achievement notifications in the community feed. Read the discussion about this decision.
• Subtabs on the iPhone.
  At long last, our iPhone friends can view the meta section of the site. Sorry this took a while.

Now, back to work! Whupppahh!

We’ve added a new, experimental category to clean up the main page — meta. Now, you can ask questions about what’s going on in the site without disrupting the main flow.

Just like the chatroom, the meta tab gives you an option to talk about Fluther itself. Unlike the Discussion and Question categories, though, questions in the Meta category will not be shown on the main “All” view.

Well, it’s been a long time coming. We finally decided enough was enough, dug in, and wrote up a chatroom last week. It’s been in testing for just a little bit, so there’s quite a good possibility something may go wrong, so just PM us and yell.

You can log in with your existing Fluther account, there’s increased security, and it’s a great place to be social. Let us know what you think!
