Fluther Wishlist
Posted July 13th, 2007 by andrewNow that we’re pretty much finished with the iPhone app, I thought it’d be nice to lay out some of the improvements we’re thinking about.
- Unicode support
- Better matching
- More consistent notification, especially on activity in questions you’ve asked
- Response editing
- Spellcheck
- More stable AIM support, support for XMPP IM clients
- Better topic suggestions when asking questions
- Automatic profile suggestions

1. add friends: an option to add friends and monitor questions what friends are asking
2. a temporary two-minute edit post option
3. block - there arent any major douches in this site yet - but they will eventually join this site. when they do we can be better prepared to block certain users.
4. NOTIFICATIONs - notify me when someone leaves a comment or when i get responses in the questions i am following section
5. themes- i like the fluher theme. but some people dont - my sister refused to get a fluther account because it looked “too childish” to her
6. make it mandatory for question-askers ( dont know the right word) to pick a “great answer” because there are some people who’ll admit that you are answer is great but will never click the great answers button
more to come

RSS Feed of activity that you’re following.
Double post prevention (only reason I ask this is that I replied on the wrong one of a double post ..the one that got deleted )
Questions about the iPhone automatically snag users who have posted from the iPhone
@mirza, I’d agree with all of those except number 6…..sometimes a question just doesnt have a good answer.

ok heres a new number 6
6. Forums/ Bulletins/ Message boards : since fluther is a collective community, there should be some way for the users to share their thoughts, broadcast messages to the whole community and so on

To be fully “Web 2.0 compliant” you need to change your name to Fluthr. Seriously, you’re doing a great job! I was happy to see my request for editing in the list. Two things I suggested elsewhere that isn’t in the list are RSS feeds of questions you asked and activity you’re following. Thanks for all your hard work!

@Andrew, The name should be Fluthr and it needs to still be in beta version

I’d still like to see a facebook app.

How about an iGoogle app? I use it as my homepage, and it would be nifty (to say the least) to allow me to use Fluther there

@perchyk: You can any of the fluther feeds (Newborn, blog, questions for you) to your google homepage.

@andrew I was hoping for an actual app, like something I could use from that page to answer questions. I might try just using the iPhone app from there. One of the apps iGoogle supports is just a url thing, basically dsiplays the webpage in the little “widget” frame. I think the iPhone app might work for that.

Cheers for the activity feed!
only suggestion is to encode the username if possible, unless you don’t mind me knowing what topics mirza is following. (first name that came to mind)

Rehtulf: reverse fluther = Random or scripted generation of answers to unasked questions. Questions submitted a la Carnac (old Johnny Carson character)…this is either a brilliant idea or a symptom of sleep deprivation.

THIS IS MY MOST IMPORTANT SUGGESTION: alot of people post questions that have already been asked because people dont bother searching (which needs to improve). So how about if after submitting a question, fluther andoes automatic search to display similar questions and asks the user if he still wants to go ask the question. This would save alot of time

I don’t know if this has already been requested but a one-click button that would bring up a list questions that have never been answered would be awesome.

Couple of issues using fluther from my iPhone:
1. I’m not able to mark a “great question” from my iPhone’s browser.
2. When typing an answer on my iPhone, the text box behaves strangely. For example, sometimes the bottom line of a paragraph will be visible, but can’t be selected using the iPhone “magnifying glass”. That make sense?
