Thus begins the great purge…

We’re still listed as the top webapp on Apple’s social networking site, and the flow of new users doesn’t seem to be slowing.

I’ve refined our question removal tools, added more warning text to the iPhone site, and will be updating our guidelines.

We’ll be adding search to the iPhone shortly.

That said: we’re going to be really raising the bar for new questions.

Draconian? Perhaps. But until our new community features drop, we owe it to the collective to maintain the culture of Fluther.

So, continue to welcome some of the fantastic new users that have come in this last wave, keep flagging questions, and thank you all for your wonderful feedback.

it’s getting to the point where i think you guys should consider banning people who get more than X abuse flags. there are some really f***ing worthless questions and answers out there, and they make fluther less than what it really is.

I agree with Sam that there are some people who are just here to say dumb things or offend other people. Also it it just me or are some new users are cheating their scores ?? I mean there are some users who have been here for a week or so and they have well over 500 points.

I think the biggest problem with the coming of the new users is that fluther has downgraded itself from an intellectual place to ask questions to a site whose quality of questions is getting similar to Yahoo Answers

I think that daily limits on questions might slow down some of the fluff.
As for cheating the scores I don’t believe this is so. With the multitude of questions and responses it has allowed for rapid points gains. I cheer them on.
Maybe questions that have become obsolete could be tagged not to show in the siblings panel. Like “when will the Iowa results come out”. I’ve found questions I missed, that interest me in the siblings panel. If outdated questions were not there it leaves room for another question.
I’m not interested in the drug and sex questions. I’m sure there are some that are not interested in the questions I ask also.
