Moderation process updates
Posted April 3rd, 2009 by andrewThe last couple of weeks have made me realize that I’ve done a poor job of communicating the goal of the moderation process: to work with jellies to make sure the questions asked are the most-thought-out and spark the best quality answers or the best quality discussion.
As a result, I’ve tweaked the moderation process a bit to facilitate better communication between mods and users. Now, if a question gets pushed to editing you’re notified on the site (instead of relying solely on an email), and I’ve added better methods of communicating with the mod team during the moderation process.
Happy Fluthering!

Hurrah! This is good news for someone like me who can only have so many tabs open when sneaking online at work ;p

Thanks for the update, Andrew.
I was getting a little lost with all the new changes, but I figured you’d all figure something out in the end.
WTG.

Too bad there is not a clear set of guidelines and moderation is still arbitrarily done with no firm set of guidelines in order to ensure less moderated questions. Moderation hazy. See later for better guidelines.

What do you know… a step closer!
I advise all to continue expressing your concerns on this matter, as I’m sure this is not the last of it.

I never had any issues with the Mods or prior process, but I nonetheless appreciate all your efforts to keep the site running smoothly. Lurve!

Thanks Andrew! There’s been so much wild crap on this site lately, it’s nice to see you work so hard to maintain it. You deserve some pancakes! ((hands andrew pancakes))

It’s good to reinforce that the goal of the mods is to work *with* the jellies, not *against* them. Some people, it seems, will always feel they’re being singled out unfairly… but it’s a *human* process and while sometimes inconsistent, I think Fluther is better for it.

That’s very nice of you.

thanks to all the mods for their hard work and for keeping things civil here. Unlike some people, I do not see moderation as censoring.

I’m new to the Fluther community and have become completely addicted. Its the only thing that gets me through my 12-hour shifts at work. One thing I am curious about and cant really find any information about is…how do you become a moderator?
