Beginning a browsing experiment

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

We’ve pushed some new tabs (Discussions and Questions) on the main page to beta users, kicking off a period of experimenting with the way that we all can view and filter information on the site.
PM me, Ben, or Tim if you’d like to be included in the beta group.
Special thanks to johnpowell for the kick […]

Big. Avatars. Yeah!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

We finished processing everyone’s avatar images. We’re still tidying up some of the default avatars, but we’re really excited about actually seeing the jellies in our collective.
We may or may not have spent the afternoon looking at profile pages.
Enjoy!

Know who knows? Then pass it on!

Sometimes you see a question on Fluther and you’re tempted to write, “I have no idea how batteries work.” But you resist that temptation and wait for someone smarter to answer (we appreciate that).
Other times you see a question and think, “I have no clue how to wax a piano, but my friend Rupert is […]

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

We’re excited to announce the new, live community feed — we’ve been playing around with it for the last week and it’s proven to be really exciting to show us where the action is happening on the site — from celebrating great questions to showing us who has entered the fabled 10K mansion, we hope […]

New changes sprinkled about…

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

We’ve added a few small features in the last week or so.
First, we’ve added sub-tabs when browsing all the topics, so you can see questions sorted by date, activity, and whether or not they’ve had any answers (poor little orphan questions).
We also have added the first steps in integrating your Facebook account with your Fluther […]

The new ask process

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

We’ve been testing this feature for a while, and we’re pleased to unveil the new ask process to everyone on the site.
Overall, we’ve seen fewer first questions pushed to moderation and the ask process run more smoothly for users.
The new data we’re collecting will give us a lot of room to play with how we […]

IE8 Fixes and other bugfixes

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

We’ve updated YUI, so IE8 should work now without having to switch into compatibility mode.
We’ve also fixed a long nagging bug where the @link dropdown menu wouldn’t work at the start of your second paragraph.
Bigger features should be dropping later this week.

Faster preview

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

As part of a little long-term project, we’ve wrapped up porting our custom Textile engine from python to javascript.
What does that mean? It means that the previews you see will be much, much faster to render, and it means that during peak times, Fluther should be much more nimble. We’ve also added a few new […]
