Profile answers are back!

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

We’ve added a new setting so you can control who sees your list of answers on your profile.
We’ve also changed up the RSS and twitter feeds to raise the quality of list of questions, as well as include attribution to the users who ask them (since mysteriously, questions still are showing up on another answer […]

Flutherbot 2.0

Friday, May 29th, 2009

With great exhaustion, we present to you the new and improved Flutherbot.
After the lengthy alpha stage, he’s new and improved — and instead of spamming you with a bunch of questions, you can control how often he gives you questions with our new notification settings. We’ve added Gmail/GTalk/Jabber support as well.
Additionally, we’re now notifying you […]

Easy access to answers

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Hi Flutherites,
Long time no blog. It may have sounded quiet around here, but we’ve been busy working on lots of things under the hood and today we’d like to announce a neat new feature that’s been requested by many of you: profile answers! Now when you click on user profiles, you can see not just […]

Dr. Searchington, I presume?

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Over the last few months, many of you have “noticed” a strange “quality” of our “search” function: it “sucked.”
Well, we finally got a chance to partner with a lesser-known startup to provide you with a much better search. We hope it helps everyone more easily access the bountiful knowledge stored in the collective.
Enjoy–and let us […]

@fluther

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

As a little side project to distract myself while I’m beefing up the IM server, I decided to implement a feature we’ve been thinking about for a long time: institutionalizing the @user convention.
Now, while you’re writing your response, you’ll see a pop-up list of users within the discussion when you start typing ‘@’, and all […]

Spicing up the sidebar

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

You may have noticed some extra goodies during the last few days, namely:

The FlutherSearch Firefox plugin:

If you use Firefox, you should try it out–it’s specially made by our friends at WebMynd so when you search Google you also search Fluther. Plus, it can record your search history in a nifty way.

An Amazon search box:

When you’re […]

Perma-perma-perma-chameleon.

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

It’s stupid how little time this took, but I’ve thrown on permalinks to quips. Hover over the “action bar” on the quips to get a little permalink — which you can copy-paste when you want to refer to someone’s quip.
Consider this a rough draft… the implementation may change a little bit.

Fluther Podcast #3: The Playcast

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

In which Andrew & Erik play a game of Fluther Pictionary hoping that the collective will try to decipher their chicken–scratch.
Here’s the deal: Erik and I drew some of our favorite Fluther questions (and one not–really–a–question) and filmed it. It’s your job to guess what they are!
Submit your mighty guesses for all the categories to […]

O Fluther, Where Art Thou?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Have you been having trouble finding people on Fluther? Well, my friend, your troubles have come to an end. Now you can search for other Flutherers just by typing their name (or a part of it) into the search bar. It’s that simple.

We hope this will increase the ease with which all you jellies […]

1|2|3… Paginate!

Monday, April 7th, 2008

A number of you noted that the Activity You’re Following page can get painfully long after you’ve been Fluthering for a while. There are lots of big things keeping us busy these days (just you wait), but sometimes it’s worth taking a deep breath, pressing pause, and making a little improvement to the site. Two […]
