@bea2345 Many Congressional sites went down due to being overloaded. It was pretty great to see it all unfold. The one day protest had a measurable impact: http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/407119_10150538513569445_13320939444_8607462_1650971380_n.jpg

It was with great pleasure that I learned that Google was unavailable to U.S. users on that day. Not that I have any animus towards America: it just seemed right. I wonder what happened to online services in Congress (let alone the White House)?

Sorry, Brian! I wasn't around all day, so didn't see your comments until now. Also, for some reason, our blog is funky about dates and times.

Can the "imminent takedown" banner be removed and replaced with one indicating a specific countdown, once a specific time is determined?

Complaining about "powerful corporate interests" with one side of one's mouth while, at the same time, claiming that piracy is dishonourable, is a little rich. It is ineffably... _liberal_ to complain about a problem, and then bitterly criticize any effective means of resolving it. Piracy isn't the problem, it's the *solution*.

Another way for the Government to step in and try to garner money for the fat cats. I first heard about this when some video game companies initially supported SOPA, then they all backed out when they realized they wouldn't profit from it. Corporate America is just gettin out of hand now. Your seriously gonna tell me people sat in a room and decided that they should have the right to control what is said on the internet? And this makes us different from third world countries how? Now you see why I want to move to Canada.

@fundevogel SOPA has been shelved for the moment, but the Senate's PROTECT IP Act is still in play. In any event, they'll try again so we have to remain vigilant.

@phaedryx We are seriously considering joining the blackout on the 18th.
