We’re making a couple changes to authentication. The changes will help increase security (especially in multi-user environments).
The changes will sign you out so don’t be alarmed. Also, starting today you will need to sign in every 31 days.
No. Accounts are forever.
Well… what happens after 31 days?
@pete….you just have to log in I imagine rather than it being cached…
Oh. I get it.
I can’t log in. I type my username and password, hit enter, then it reloads without signing in. If I type a wrong password it shows a wrong password message. You guys still fixin’ things?
Thanks for the heads up – after the fact. This is probably from that spam attack last night – huh? My computer is set to automatically sign me in, so I’m not worried.
After 31 days the cookie holding your session expires.
We’re done so if you’re experiencing problems we’ll need to look at it.
@bob_ can you send a feedback email to us (link is on the top of the site under “Contact”). The reason I’m asking you to send in an official email is we can grab your exact browser version and try to pinpoint the issue with that bit of data in hand.
I am trying to log in, at least a dozen attempts and I cannot get in. WTF?
Just like bob_, I can’t seem to log in either. I already am a member, but everytime I try to sign in with my usual username and password, it returns me to the “login” display. How do I log in?
Same goes for me. I can’t seem to log in.
Deleted cookies. Tried again. Worked! 😀
I am unable to log in. Have tried rebooting, etc.
There’s an IE8 specific bug, look for a fix in the MOTD (Message Of The Day) at the top of the site shortly.
Deleted cookies. Still can’t log in with my username and password. Help!
Make sure you are deleting cookies, temporary files, and not saving any pre-set information for the site.
You could kill two birds with one stone by switching to a different browser such as Firefox. IE sucks.
I couldn’t log in with Safari without deleting cookies, and then I was booted off while trying to answer a question. If I have to delete cookies every time I log in, I’m going to have to log into every other site that I normally keep open. What a pain.
–I can’t post blog comments without having to give my e-mail address even though I’m logged on to Fluther? Or have I been booted off again? Is this some sort of hint?–
I can’t log in either. I’m using Safari.
How long is forever?
When they fixed the log-in problems for the second time, it logged everyone out again. That _should_ be all taken care of now. If anyone is still having trouble, please let me know. Thanks!

This has always been the case for me.
We get thousands of spam comments so we have to approve comments one-by-one (if you use the same info as another approved comment it should auto-approve the next one). Sorry if it takes too long to post but otherwise it would be 10-to-1 spam comments.
So it wasn’t just me not getting in via Safari today.
Tim. Install Akismet. It work wonders for killing spam on wordpress installs.
I finally got back with Google Chrome…I had thought that my account was deleted because of something I said…phew
During the sales I purchased a low-priced igloo rolling
cooler and it is extremely practical – not too big, but large enough
to hold 58 cans or perhaps a couple of litres.
It is perfect to carry around in the car, even to just carry home “doggie bags”
from dining out. It carries the large Styrofoam pots that quite a few restaurants
hand out. The rollers work without problems on pavements or lawns.
If you do not sign-in after 31 days does that mean your account goes bye-bye?
