As you know, we use real live jellyfish human moderation to maintain the environment that’s such a big part of the Fluther experience. We thought you’d like to get to know your mods a little better, so we’ll be featuring them here over the next few weeks. In this, part one of a series, we introduce you to syz and Sarcasm. Sharon is 46 years old and lives in North Carolina along with her partner (and a veritable menagerie).
Pets: Spencer (border collie rescue), Dory (hartz toxicity rescue), Melee, Havoc (hand raised kitten), Sue (umbrella cockatoo rescue), Hilary (Congo African grey), and assorted fish.
Education: BS in Animal Science
Hobbies and Interests: I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and reading.
Day job: I manage a veterinary emergency clinic.
Dream job: Working with big cats, as I have done in the past.
Why do you volunteer your time to Fluther?: I volunteer my time because I found a community of thoughtful, intelligent, and helpful people and I want to help to maintain that.

Sarcasm
Kevin is 21 years old, has 2 siblings, and lives in a suburb in San Diego county, CA with two messy roommates.

Education: 3.5 years spent in a Community College, preparing to move to a university in the Fall. While I’m majoring in Computer Information Systems, this semester I’m taking German, Astronomy, and Hacker Prevention/Security. What can I say? I have diverse interests.
Hobbies and Interests: Playing computer games, appreciating high-res false color pictures of the universe far too much, and watching sci-fi movies.
Dream job: Liaison for extraterrestrial affairs.
Why do you volunteer your time to Fluther?: I love the community. I love the site. I love to help/fix things. I have plenty of free time, and figured that if I didn’t say yes, they’d have to pick somebody else — and that somebody else could’ve been a real jerk. I couldn’t allow that. I just wish I didn’t have to make some mean decisions from time to time, but I do my best to push those tasks off to the newbie moderators. Also, I have no idea how to say no to Augustlan or Dog.
Is there anything else you’d like the community to know about you?: Don’t tap on the glass please. And remember, we’re just as scared of you as you are of us.
