We’re going to do something a little differently this time around and ask the collective for nominations for our next Fluther mod.
Please PM me and let me know your choice. Thank you!
A new Mod?! WOW. I have three in mind.
Exciting!
I’m voting for Allie.
I’m a newbie so I don’t know if it’s appropriate if I cast a vote but I think lynneblundell would be a wonderful moderator. She is kind, intelligent and from what I can see very fair minded. I’ve been semi-stalking her, looking back through her activity and she has a genuine and honest feel about her.
My 2 cents.
I think Marina would be a great mod if she wants to take it on.
Neat way to try things 🙂
Silly, JP.
Very cool idea, guys! 🙂
obviously me, because everybody needs that cool teacher who’s like “sure, ill buy you beer.”
or, uhm….. i dunno.
perhaps we should check to make sure whoever gets voted on has had the stick removed *first*. 😉
If you don’t already have a stick, you’re given one when you get the job, epony. Sadly, it’s impossible to be a truly good mod without a stick. Granted, some people have sticks that are clearly larger and more uncomfortable, but … yeah.
JLeslie
MIlo has impeccable taste and an appreciation of style, wit and originality. And he is much more forgiving than that nasty perfectionist he lives with.
old man gus says “bah…i want soup.”
Can we make multiple nominations?
I’ll say Marina…even though I thought she already was one!
Asmonet.
Darwin
(do I have to PM as well?)
John Powell, for sure.
I’d like to nominate Laureth.
and casheroo!
JLeslie, if she wanted to. She is nice and her answers are always good and thought out and make sense.
I thought Marina was a mod!!!!? Ay DIOS MIO!
How about Gary? I don’t think anyone could take his correction the wrong way!
We all love WTF!
You know what? I think I’d like to give it a shot. I’d like to contribute a bit more. This site helped me stay sane while I was away in the middle of nowhere.. the least I could do is give a little back.
I vote for Darwin, great knowledge in a variety of areas, a calm voice of reason, not given to rabid outbursts even when invited and capable of IMPARTIALITY.
OMG – do not nominate me. Fluther would sink like wis.dm
I nominate Chyna.
If you’re looking for someone who is generally organized and on the website, I’m nominating Tink.
a sa relative newbie here, I wont nominate anyone but i’d be interested to see the result if people could volunteer.
Since we are so many from answerbag here I’d vote for someone of us the refugees. I would pick “Jerv”
@Silhouette I’m flattered and would love to be a Mod but I don’t think I’ve earned that status yet!! xx maybe one day…..
I’d say John Powell, Darwin and JonsBlonde
I think that sextastic Sarcasm guy should be a mod. I’m totally not him. Nope. Not at all.
I vote for Jeruba, and Darwin.
Jack Adams. Oh the fun we would have…
Kidding…only kidding about Jack Adams –gee by now he’s just a long forgotten footnote in fluther history–
Jonsblonde or blondesjon mis my vote
I think Darwin would be a great moderator.
–Zen_Again is Zen, again?–
Oh! You know who else would be great? Saturated_Brain.
Can I vote for myself?
LOL
I Nominate: LTaylor
I vote for JLeslie too (=
I Nominate: anoop66
Jeruba or JLeslie. There are other -suckers- smart and sensible people who could do it – they popped into mind.
I am not a candidate. I repeat I am not a candidate. I am not even a candy date.
I’m very new here but John Powell was a generous and fair moderator in the chat room set up for Answerbag users that left that site in mass. He was helpful and a great representative of the Fluther community. I vote John Powell (if he wants it .. no expectations, John:)
GARY
Laureth
darwin
Jleslie
jonsblonde (she’s probably too busy with the kids though)
gailcalled, Marina, Jeruba, Darwin (I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it again: I love brilliant women…..and I should point out that sccrowell specifically demanded that I not include her…. otherwise you would have gotten my high five). See ya…..Gary/wtf
I would be a horrible mod.
I think you should look for someone in Europe. The moderation is sparse late at night in the United States.
*Dick-punches Richardhenry for abandoning us*
hmmm…well the problem with mod nominations is that the ones that would be good (like Zen) don’t want the job, and the ones who do would probably not make a good mod, precicely because they see it as a prize rather than a responsibility. It is humanly impossible to be a good mod for longer than a couple of months anyway, so the whole thing is a bummer. Tough choice, I will check who is not already a mod and mail you in private…
I’ll put in my vote for Darwin, JLeslie, and chyna, and the two blondes as well. 😉
I appreciate seeing my name mentioned and thank you for your kind expression of confidence. I really don’t think I’d be well suited for the job. To me it’s one that requires a great deal of delicacy and tact, and I don’t consider my diplomatic skills to be strong enough. Several others of those whose names appear here look to me like good choices.
Thanks Jack – but I think the site is well modded and if a few people a. didn’t take it too seriously, and b. the rest of the people showed a little more respect and patience then pretty much anyone could mod. If you can type, and you can memorise the mod rules, then you’ll be fine. Hey, remember the MSN chat rooms? I modded there. That’s real time, live, chat rooms, before you could say shit without an asterisk.
Would I make a good mod here? Nope. I wouldn;t last a NY minute. You need to be a. on here a lot b. cool as a cuke and c. level-headed, thick-skinned and moderate in your approach in general. I am none of the above.
I say kudos to those who take it upon themselves to mod. Hip hip hooray. For without them, we’d be a fucking wis.dmlike cesspool. And we know where wis.dm is; it’s at the bottom of the sea, so to speak.
JLeslie and gailcalled
I’m very surprised to see my name mentioned here, considering that I haven’t been active at all for the past two and something weeks (although as this post shows, I have been lurking around occasionally). Now if you want my true and honest opinion, I really wouldn’t mind being a mod at all. In fact there have been moments when I really wanted to show my appreciation to this site more and put in my efforts to make this a better place.
However (and this is a very big however), real life has recently gotten a death grip on my balls and I seriously doubt that I’d be able to put in the time a mod should dedicate for this sort of job, even though I really do want to. Furthermore, I think that I need to spend more time on this site before I can be even considered for the position. If I were another member of the site, I’d feel safer nominating one who has amassed at least 7000 lurve points in total because that shows dedication and recognition by a large proportion of the site population.
I shall not log in to my account to PM the Fluther gods cause I don’t want to enter the site proper until I’m really ready to come back, but I hope that my comment nomination will still get noticed. And although a few of the names which have been repeatedly coming up ARE good choices, with those users making fantastic mods, I’m very surprised that one name hasn’t come up yet.
As such, daloon shall be my nomination. He’s one of our few 20K-ers and is highly respected for his extremely analytical, unbiased and thoughtful responses. He is clearly dedicated to this site and is the name that everyone looks out for when relationship questions come out. And since we all know that relationship issues are one of the most complex types in life, if he is a Fluther authority on those, I believe that handling the issues faced on the site would be well within his abilities. So let’s give daloon a chance at this shall we?
As for me, we’ll just see where I am the next time such a career opportunity arises. But still, thanks wildpotato. I appreciate it. =)
I’d like to give a shout out to the current moderators of this site. The level of commitment is incredible. I have been asked to edit several of my questions and instead of a “please edit” I get a detailed description of the edits I should make. Someone actually reads my entire submission word for word. They make suggestions they couldn’t make if they hadn’t taken the time to read my post and to think about the possible improvements that could be made. Thank you for your commitment to excellence. I am learning from this site and I appreciate my teachers.
–cash, made me warm and fuzzy.–
I also agree with the suggestion of Jeruba.
This is endlessly hilarious to me.
My vote is for Ivan. I am amazed by his kindness and willingness to help others. 😀
I forgot to mention cprevite and bluefreedom. Two more amazing men of Fluther!
cprevite and bluefreedom I agree with as well.
Though I don’t think either would have the time. 🙁
I nominate Jeruba, gailcalled, and Marina.
🙂
I second the vote for Chyna and of course the jonblond family.
My noms: JLeslie, Jeruba, cprevite and Darwin.
I respectfully request that Arisztid be considered for one of the new moderator positions. Though I don’t know Arisztid personally, my observation of this jelly (on Fluther and from another site) convinces me he has the intelligence, the committment, and the discrimanation to serve the community well in this position. Thank you for your consideration.

If Galileogirl has the time, she would get my vote. She is clear, tactful and well-organized.
Marina, by all means.
@jonsblond and @asmo: I appreciate the vote of confidence (and would love to do it) – but as you suspected, I simply wouldn’t have the time.
Sorry everyone! We have chosen the new moderatorS! Darwin and shrubbery!
Ron Paul 2010!!! Wait, that’s not right…
